Ning Yu, DDS, PhD Periodontist
Dr. Ning Yu is a first-generation college student and dentist. Growing up in China, she developed interest in dentistry and science at an early age. In 2003, she started her training as a dentist and scientist at China Medical University School of Dentistry in Shenyang, the largest city in Northeast China. In 2010, her passion for periodontics brought her to the US. She received her PhD degree in Oral Biology from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. She is currently residing in Massachusetts conducting periodontal research at the Forsyth Institute and teaching periodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Yu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Implant Surgery. To receive this honor, Dr. Yu went through rigorous training in periodontal surgery, extraction and bone grafting procedures, and implant surgery. Dr. Yu is also a recipient of the Balint Orban Research Award (the highest research award for dental residents) and the AADR Anne D. Haffajee Fellowship (female junior researcher in periodontics). Her comprehensive expertise as a clinician-scientist has allowed her to treat her patients with evidence-based strategies.
Dr. Yu comes to practice in Vermont because she falls in love with the Green Mountain State during family vacations and the welcoming Vermonters bring warmth to her heart. When she is not at work, Dr. Yu enjoys reading, running, hiking, and watching NCAA and NBA basketball games.
