Prosthodontist
For Dr. Bashar Ghoujal, becoming a dentist (or more specifically, a prosthodontist) was the obvious choice. The path of the prosthodontist gives him the opportunity to combine his favorite interests — science, art, and medicine — into one calling. He finds it fascinating that he can take a piece of metal, namely a dental implant, and bring it to life by integrating it with the human body and restoring its aesthetics as a natural-looking restoration.
However, the synthesis of science, art, and medicine is not the only reason Dr. Ghoujal practices dentistry; he also sees dentistry as a way of giving. For Dr. Ghoujal, the feeling of helping a patient and seeing them smile is unrivaled. By forming close connections with his patients and learning their unique stories, he’s able to get a deeper understanding of their individual needs, create personalized treatment plans, and revel with the patients in the treatments’ success.
Dr. Ghoujal considers himself an avid lifelong learner, keeping his mind sharp by keeping up with the latest science while also contributing to the field. So far, Dr. Ghoujal has been published twice and is Clinical Assistant Professor of General Dentistry at BU. He’s also a member of the American Academy of Prosthodontics and The Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Ghoujal studied at prestigious schools in the US and Canada. He received his DMD and prosthodontic training at NYU as well as an MSc in experimental medicine at McGill.
When he’s not at work, Dr. Ghoujal enjoys spending time with his family, reading history, jogging, playing soccer, and playing chess.
Dr. Ghoujal speaks Arabic, French, and Circassian, in addition to English.
